Visiting Scholar Tom Williams will present his lecture, "Lipstick Ascending: Claes Oldenburg in New Haven in 1969 at Yale University" which he has also presented at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

Williams is attending the Genius Loci Lecture series by invitation from Art Department Chair, Dr. Suzette Doyon. Tom Williams is currently completing his dissertation entitled, "Claes Oldenburg, Eros, and the 1960s" for his Ph.D. in art history and criticism from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He is also a 2008-2009 Critical Studies Fellow at the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program in New York City, and he has published articles on Oldenburg, Krzysztof Wodiczko, and other topics.

On January 9th at 6PM, Williams will present a second lecture "Pop Art in General" at the Pensacola Museum of Art that will be in conjunction with the Jasper Johns exhibition at the museum.
